PPG sponsored Daniel Cammish secured his third double victory of the season at Snetterton when he crossed the line to win round 10 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
The championship leader started the first race of the day from the pole position in brilliant sunshine to lead the field as round 9 started. Despite pressure from teammate and Porsche Scholar Charlie Eastwood, Dan controlled the race superbly, never showing a hint of things being less than under control, to take his sixth win of the year.
“From a driving point of view the pressure from Charlie was good but I was able to soak it up and beat him, which is what I needed to do.” Said Dan. “He kept me really honest but I don’t think he was ever close enough to make a move, through the back markers I made a better job but it was really close. It was really fast at the front but I’m really happy with the result.”
The Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG sponsored car started from pole position once again as the cars lined up for the start of round 10. Dan surged off the line into a lead that he would not relinquish for the rest of the race. Charlie again provided the main opposition, but Dan had enough in reserve to counter his every move. He set the fastest lap of the race on lap six and took the chequered flag and the 100th victory for the Redline Racing team.
“It was a good race,” said Dan. “We’ve had really good speed all weekend as a team. I’m really glad we’ve carried it over from the testing on Tuesday and Friday as well, but it has been a long week and I wanted to come away with the right result. We were the fastest car this weekend but Charlie was really quick. The balance changed a bit during the race but we are both running the same car so he was struggling with the same things I was. I think he took a little longer to adapt so I built a gap and I was able to control it from there. To take the 100th win for Redline Racing is amazing. I’m glad to have played a part in that, 18 out of the 100 wins are mine. It has been a fantastic race.”
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB now moves to Knockhill in Scotland for rounds 11 & 12 on the 13th & 14th August.
