Round 2 of the British Superbike Championship and the support race series took place during the last weekend of 30 April and 2 May at Oulton Park in Cheshire, this superb race track presents the riders with a wonderful challenge, especially in the wet.
In the Supersport class Jake Dixon demonstrated great pace and qualified 7th, he was pushing hard and felt that he could have been closer to pole. Race 1 and the pack left the grid tightly grouped, the way they stayed until the fourth corner, Shell Oils where due to an incident Jake was unseated from the bike and crashed out. Making a second DNF for the season.
Race 2 and Jake started 13th on the grid, and on a drying track he made his way up to 4th place, extremely good and mature racing, then the rain fell and out came the red flags to end the race. A great ride through the traffic to take a well deserved 4th place.
In Superstock 600 the team experienced many technical problems that required significant effort to solve, add to these the poor weather, seemingly endless rain and qualifying was really difficult. Wayne qualified 36th and Scott 38th out of 40.
Following a good start to the race Scott began to work his way through the field, showing his potential to ride with the best, by the end of the race he had worked his way up to 17th position. A very competitive ride by Scott, sadly for Wayne, disaster struck on lap 2 with a bike failure.
Dave Tyson, Team Manager said ‘In summary a weekend of challenges that we met head on, with a final result that whilst not as good as planned, was not a disaster, we now look forward to round 3 at Brands Hatch.”
