Fix Auto Felixstowe Brings the MOONWALK™ Journey to Suffolk

PPG Refinish UK & Ireland are proud to announce that Fix Auto Felixstowe are the next refinish customer to take the next step in paint mixing technology by joining the MoonWalk journey.

Starting from humble beginnings in 1985 by founder Keith Patterson, Fix Auto Felixstowe set their eye on the trade and retail market whilst keeping one eye on insurance. Their prime objective being customer satisfaction, which has played a huge part in the development and longevity of the growing family run business.

Headed up by Keith Patterson, Fix Auto Felixstowe prides itself on being a close-knit operation. The next generation of Patterson’s taking the helm alongside their father, Sam looking after the admin side of the business and Dan manning the spray guns in the paint department. Included in the business’ 17 staff is Callum, 2020 marks his 20 years with the business, who has been assigned to oversee the new MoonWalk install and its operation.

A dedicated MoonWalk champion in a bodyshop is key to ensuring the success of the semi-automated mixing machine, allowing painters to concentrate on the extra productive labour time that MoonWalk makes available.

After great consideration in 2017, Keith decided to join the Fix Auto network, using the knowledge and experience of the network as an aid towards their own business development goals. This change introduced PPG on to Fix Auto Felixstowe’s radar; Keith explains, “Just prior to joining Fix Auto, we were asked to look at PPG by a work provider. It wasn’t mandatory to take on PPG but after finding out about PPG’s offer, we quickly discovered how professional and knowledgeable the PPG staff are. From then on, we were hooked and haven’t looked back!”

Two and a half years later, Fix Auto Felixstowe’s relationship with PPG is as strong as it has ever been, which has proved to be a main benefactor in Fix Auto Felixstowe’s adoption of MoonWalk. When asked about making the decision to install MoonWalk, Keith said, “I found myself intrigued with what it had to offer and the benefits it could bring to our business. After seeing MoonWalk displayed and discussed at ABP Club’s Annual Convention and Night of Knights 2019, it was clearly a no brainer for our business”.

Fast forward to October 2020, Fix Auto Felixstowe’s volumes are higher than they have ever been, a perfect moment for MoonWalk to be installed into the busy shop. “After a very thorough installation, in a very short space of time, we could see the benefits from MoonWalk in both labour and materials. We really believe in excess of the claims made by PPG when looking at the bigger picture. 

We believe that MoonWalk and the technology involved takes us to another level in terms of paint identification and the savings involved with the automated paint mixing”.
