PPG sponsored Daniel Cammish doubles up at Oulton Park

PPG sponsored Daniel Cammish claimed victory in the sixth Porsche Carrera Cup GB race of the season last weekend at Oulton Park to make it a clean sweep with two wins, two pole positions and a pair of fastest laps in Cheshire.

From pole position, the Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG-backed driver made a perfect getaway from the standing start to lead Dino Zamparelli into Old Hall for the first time, opening an early lead in the 12-lap encounter. Dan’s lead continued to grow to an eventual 3.4s margin of victory over Zamparelli, confirming a fourth win of 2017 to extend his championship lead in the process.

"We got a great start which we always look for at these sort of circuits", said Dan. "At some circuits you think it's actually fine and you can overtake your way back to the front, but here it's much harder to make those moves on a narrow circuit so it was important to get that jump.”

"We just drove off at speed and I made sure not to make any mistakes from then on. I locked the brakes at one stage however and nearly went into the scenery which was a brief wake-up call! It just goes to show that even when you've got a lead, it's still easy to lose it in these cars. I do my best to look after the car because of course, if there's a safety car, I want to have the equipment to maintain that lead afterwards.”

Adding another fastest lap to complete a clean sweep of the spoils from Oulton Park, the Leeds racer believes that his latest brace of wins will kick-start his challenge for a third Carrera Cup GB title.

"We've had two wins, we're back in the lead of the championship and I think we'll start to push on from here now”, he added.

The Carrera Cup GB will next head to the illustrious Le Mans circuit for round seven over the dates of 14-17 June, competing in an enlarged grid joined by compatriots in the French Carrera Cup.
