Donington Park BSB Championship Race Update

From 16th – 18th September at Donington Park, one of the UK’s oldest motor racing circuits, Round 10 of the BSB Championship took place.

The Tsingtao Racing team elected to run two bikes in the Superstock 600 category, with Scott Deroue and Sam Lambert being selected.

During practice both, Scott and Sam, were riding well with Scott finishing 9th and Sam 27th, this provided a positive start for both riders. During Q1, Scott improved to 4th position, whilst some bike faults meant that Sam remained 27th. However, during Q2, Sam improved and managed to get into 24th position and, even though Scott went faster, Scott remained in 4th overall.

Combined qualifying times resulted in Scott holding onto the 4th fastest position and Sam was in 25th. The following morning warm up showed great promise for the team, with Scott gaining 3rd position and Sam achieving 25th.

Once the race was underway, Scott dropped to 13th position. However, after an unfortunate crash from rows 2 and 3, Scott was able to pick his way through the riders and had a great recovery ride, allowing him to finish in 4th. Although Scott had a fantastic recovery he was, yet again, just off the podium but he had the fastest lap in the race to his credit.

Sam was also fortunate to avoid the crash and made good progress, going from 24th position to finish in the points, in 15th.

In summary, a great weekend for the team with positive results for both riders, and Scott keeps getting closer and closer to the podium with each race.
