Danny Buchan returns to Tsingtao Racing in the Superbike class

Over the August bank holiday (27th – 29th), round eight of the British Superbike Championship took place at Cadwell Park with Shane Byrne scooping the victory.

The exciting event saw Danny Buchan, the teams 2014 Superstock 1000 Champion, race again for Tsingtao Racing, racing in the Superbike class. In an extremely short amount of time, MSS Colchester was able to build a Kawasaki ZX10R bike, ensuring Danny was able to compete on a bike with which he was familiar with.

On the first day at Cadwell Park teething issues did arise, but by day two the results were improving and the standard of the bike was developing and becoming nearer to the qualifying standard. The aim was to qualify, and not only was this achieved but Danny Buchan also started alongside John Hopkins. In race one, Tsingtao Racing gained a solid eleventh position, demonstrating how hard Danny and the team worked throughout the weekend and also pushed Tsingtao Racing up the grid into a row four starting position. Unfortunately, race two was not as successful with Tsingtao Racing finishing in fourteenth. In race two the Tsingtao Racing team were held back by a few issues, however, a fast pace saw the team score points in both races, leading to a fantastic result where Tsingtao Racing overtook John Hopkins in the rider’s championship. In Stock 600, the team’s two riders, Scott Deroue and Sam Lambert, finished sixth and 22nd.

Overall, the team enjoyed a successful weekend, running a bike in the Superbike class and two bikes in the Superstock 600. Although it was a very demanding weekend, the results were satisfying and it is great to know that there is more to come from both of the riders.
