PPG sponsored MV Agusta racing gets first British podium this season

Brands Hatch was the venue for the third round of the British Superbike Championship and it’s support series. PPG sponsored Tsingtao MV Agusta Racing arrived in a confident mood, following the results at Round 2.

The Supersport Championship saw Jake Dixon running very competitively, with 5th fastest in Free Practice 1 and 6th in Free Practice 2, followed by an excellent 5th place in qualifying, just 0.208 off the pole man.

In Race 1 Jake delivered on the promise shown during the Free Practice and Qualifying runs, he raced to a brilliant 3rd place, coming home just 0.656 seconds behind the race winner. This is the first ‘small bike’ class podium in a British Championship for over 10 years.

Race 2, the conditions had changed a little in comparison to Race 1, the weather was improved and the track temperature was higher, a small problem with the setup caused Jake to lose ground exiting the final turn, he just could not get the power down early enough.

However, by dogged determination he held on for a 7th place finish, earning more championship points. Jake left Brands Hatch with 7th place in the championship. The Superstock 600 class is fiercely competitive this year, and Tsingtao MV Agusta rider Scott Deroue is battling to learn the circuits and the handling of the MV Agusta bike, which is very different compared to his Moto3 machine.

He progressed well through the weekend, gaining time in each practice session, between Free Practice 1 and Qualifying 2 he reduced his lap time by 1.23 seconds, which on the Brands Hatch ‘Indy’ circuit is a good performance.
