PPG Refinish UK & Ireland to take part in the English 3000 challenge

The

This year a team of 8 employees from PPG Refinish UK & Ireland will join RSA Motability to tackle the English 3000s. The challenge, based in the Lake District National Park, will take place on the 23rd & 24th June 2016

Challenge

The challenge will take place across two days at the end of June. Both days together will equate to 24 hours of walking.

Day 1 – Starting from Keswick, the team will tackle a 31km hike with a 2000m ascent. The first challenge will be to ascend Skiddaw and then make the long ascent up Helvellyn finishing on the banks of Thirlmere.

Day 2 – Starting from Seathwaite in Borrowdale the group will climb Broad Crag, Ill Crag, Symmond Knott and Scafell Pike, before returning back to Seathwaite. A 17km hike with 1500m ascent will be completed.

The group will come across rocky and rough terrain as well as the mental and physical endurance that this challenge will offer.

The Team

Taking part in this year's trek and representing PPG are Karen King, Chris Pennell, Neil Akers, Chris Hay, Andy Green, Danni Aiken, Euen Lockie and Sarah Allen. Also joining the PPG team will be representatives from RSA Motability Rob Gibbs, Jo Ayling, John McGlory, Mark Denton, Andy Warburton and Neil Whittle. Ian Goswell (Motability Operations) Dave Young (DWF), Les Bickerstaffe (NARS), Andrew Meanock and Chris Moore (RGI), Tom Wormaid, Mark Bratherton, Cat Macleod, Eddie Cogley (Carpenters) and Neil Cahill (Tughans).

About Motability: Motability is a national charity helping disabled people in the UK achieve personal freedom and independence through the provision of vehicles, powered wheelchairs and scooters. Each year, they have to raise £2.5 million to help around 4,000 of the most vulnerable customers of the Motability Scheme to become mobile.
