British Bodyshop Awards raises over £10,000 for charities

ABP Club have announced over £10,000 was raised for charities at the recent British Bodyshop Awards headline sponsored by PPG Industries.

The 936 BBA guests at the evening were invited to make a donation which would also include them in a prize draw held at the end of the meal. The money raised at the prestigious awards evening will be split equally between The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and The Seward Cancer Foundation.

The charities

The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.

Rainbow

Since The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity was founded in 1986, they have supported over 15,000 families all over England.

Rainbow Trust's family support workers join the family in their home and are there to provide whatever practical support is required. They may attend hospital appointments with parents, sit by the bedside of the sick child to give parents a break or take worried siblings out for the day - whatever is most beneficial to the family they are supporting.

The Seward Cancer Foundation is a cancer research support charity, inspired by Ian Clark, Seward ARCs chairman, who has been diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

Seward

1 in 3 people will now have cancer of some description during their life, which is a truly sobering thought. 8 out of 10 breast cancer sufferers are now cured, an extremely positive thought!

The Seward Cancer Foundation was formed in December 2011 and their initial target of £20,000 was reached in 2012. We are delighted to support their next target of £50,000 by the end of 2014.

Ian Clarke of Seward Cancer Foundation comments

“I would like to say we work in a great Industry but am not so sure that is true today, what I am certain of however is that we do have GREAT people working in our Industry and that makes a real difference.

THANK YOU for the £4100.00 that was raised at the Awards last Tuesday. A special thank you to ABP and PPG for nominating Seward Cancer Foundation in conjunction with the Rainbow Trust as the chosen charities for the evening and to all the guests that gave so generously on the night.

From Seward Cancer Foundation's perspective we are only a relatively small foundation with aspirations to raise circa £50k by the end of this year and this donation will give a huge boost towards that target.

To all at ABP, PPG and everybody that contributed generously on the night a massive THANK YOU on behalf of Seward Cancer Foundation and me personally”
